Studio Tanaïs is a perfume house and creative studio based in New York City, founded by award-winning author and perfumer Tanaïs. The brand crafts surreal, psychedelic, and sultry scentscapes rooted in ritual, ancestral lineage, and the cosmic.
Each composition comes alive from a tapestry of inspirations: Tanaïs’s Bangladeshi heritage, the urban wildness of New York, and spiritual homes like India, Bali, Hawaii—and even from landscapes as varied as the Mojave Desert and Jamaica. These fragrances are not just perfumes but olfactory odes—rich with ritual, reverence, history, yet boldly modern and transcendent.
Founder & Philosophy
Tanaïs is also an acclaimed author—In Sensorium: Notes For My People, which earned the 2022 Kirkus Prize for Nonfiction, reimagines South Asian history through scent, sensuality, and a feminist lens.
Their guiding philosophy, “Adorn Your Body,” is about feeling at home in one’s skin, and using beauty and fragrance as powerful acts of self-affirmation and resistance. Holding complex, discordant histories is central to their practice—liberation is the ultimate goal.

Studio Tanaïs perfumes are potent extrait de parfum, with oil concentrations up to 30%—designed to withstand and rise above NYC's intense sensory environment.
Handcrafted in NYC by Tanaïs, with each perfume hand-filled by Beauty & Studio Director Talysha Moneé, these creations use rare resins, absolutes, and ethically sourced perfumer-grade materials—blended into deeply textural and emotional compositions.
