Amphora Parfum

Essence & Identity

Amphora Parfum is a NYC-based, queer-owned niche fragrance brand that seeks to reframe perfumery as emotional self-expression rather than just a beauty tool. The brand describes itself as a “love letter to the unanswerable,” using scent to communicate feelings too complex for words.

The idea of “gay-hearted fragrance” is central to the brand’s identity: inclusive, joy-rooted, and unapologetically queer. Amphora aims to break down the social rules and norms of fine fragrance, creating gender-inclusive scents that are expressive and boundary-bending.

Founder & Origins

  • The brand was founded by Noah Virgile, who trained through the Institute for Art & Olfaction and developed his passion for scent from growing up with a mother who wore fragrance.
  • Amphora is named after the ancient clay vessel used to store oils or wine—symbolically connecting fragrance with the ritual of preservation and carrying essence.

Creative Vision & Philosophy

  • Amphora views fragrance as art & communication—a way to say what can’t always be put into words.
  • The brand privileges inclusivity and queer identity, aiming to make fragrances accessible and expressive rather than constrained by traditional “men’s” or “women’s” labels.
  • Amphora’s collections lean into narrative, emotional resonance, and bold contrasts—gourmand, aquatic, floral, and woody facets all find space in their line.
